Fundraiser for the Victims of the Mount Pleasant Fire--April 16
Dear Friends and Neighbors,
As many of you know, almost 200 people were displaced by a fire in a
Mt. Pleasant apartment building on the night of March 13th. It
was DC's first five-alarm blaze in nearly 30 years and did $20
million in damage.
Please join us to raise funds for the displaced residents this
Wednesday April 16th
at Haydee's Restaurant (3102 Mt. Pleasant Street) starting at
6pm.
Haydee's has good food, drinks, ambiance...and great Happy Hour
specials from 4pm to midnight (beers for $2.50 or less and
margaritas for $4).
We will be collecting monetary donations for the fire victims, to be
delivered through the Red Cross. Specifically, these funds
will go toward the security deposit, first month's rent and bedding
allowance for fire victims who are moving from temporary housing to
new apartments.
Haydee's has generously donated
two $100 gift certificates
to be raffled off Wednesday night during the fundraiser.
Tickets will be available for $5 each.
The city, community groups, and average citizens have all provided
valuable assistance to the fire victims over the last few weeks.
However, attention inevitably moves to other things, so now is an
important time for the community to show a continued commitment to
the displaced individuals and families. Many of these
people--already just getting by on low incomes--lost everything in
the fire.
So support a great cause while enjoying good food, drinks, and
company. Again, the event is
Wednesday April 16th
at Haydee's Restaurant (3102 Mt. Pleasant Street) starting at
6pm.
Haydee's is only a 5 minute walk from Columbia Heights metro and is
also very close to a number of bus lines.
